Learn how to set up night vision and two-way audio on the Baby Monitoring Pro. Get clear video and sound day and night with these simple steps.

Quick answer

Set up the Baby Monitoring Pro for reliable night vision and clear two-way audio by adjusting camera position, enabling infrared mode, and testing the microphone and speaker in the Wyze app.

Why night vision and audio need separate setup steps

Night vision relies on the camera's infrared LEDs and sensor, while two-way audio uses the built-in microphone and speaker. They are independent systems, so configuring one does not automatically optimize the other.

The Baby Monitoring Pro includes the Wyze Cam Pan v4, which captures 4K video and pans 360° and tilts 180°. Its night vision range and audio pickup depend on placement: objects too close to the lens can block IR light, and audio can echo if the camera is near a wall or crib mobile.

Trade-offs to know before you start

Infrared night vision produces black-and-white video. That is normal and helps the camera see in total darkness without waking your baby with visible light.

Two-way audio can pick up background noise like white noise machines or fans. You may need to lower microphone sensitivity in the app to avoid false alerts or muffled sound.

The camera's 360° pan and 180° tilt mean you can follow movement, but if the camera is set to patrol, it may not always face the crib when you use two-way audio. Set a specific position for audio sessions.

Step-by-step night vision and sound setup

  1. Place the camera for best coverage: Position the Wyze Cam Pan v4 at least 3 feet from the crib, angled slightly downward. Make sure nothing blocks the lens or the infrared LEDs. Avoid pointing the camera directly at a window, as glass can reflect IR light and wash out the image. Check the live view in the app: if the image is washed out or dark, adjust the angle or distance.
  2. Enable night vision mode in the app: Open the Wyze app, go to Camera Settings, then Video Settings, and select Night Vision. Choose Auto to let the camera switch to infrared in low light, or select On to keep night vision active 24/7. Auto is best for most nurseries because it preserves color during the day. If the image stays black during the day, you may have forced night vision on. Switch back to Auto.
  3. Test the two-way audio: In the live view, tap the microphone icon to talk to your baby, and tap the speaker icon to hear them. Speak in a normal tone about 3 feet from the camera. If the other person sounds muffled, move the camera closer or lower the microphone sensitivity in Audio Settings. Run a full audio test with a second device: play a sound near the crib and confirm you hear it clearly in the app.
  4. Set a fixed camera position for audio sessions: If you use the pan and tilt features, set a specific position that faces the crib before using two-way audio. Use the Wyze app to save a preset position, then recall it when you want to talk or listen. This prevents the camera from moving mid-conversation. Save a preset named 'Crib' so you can return to the same angle quickly.
  5. Adjust motion and sound alerts: In Camera Settings, go to Detection Settings. Enable Motion Detection and Sound Detection. Set sensitivity to Medium to avoid false alerts from moving curtains or white noise. You can also set activity zones to focus only on the crib area. After setup, test an alert by walking into the room or making a sound near the crib.
